I’m Pamela, and I am a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out in San José, California. I received my Masters in Social Work from San José State University. I have over 10 years' experience providing mental health services to teenagers, adults and families. I have worked with those impacted by grief/loss, domestic violence, drug addiction, child abuse and stressful life transitions. My work is driven from an anti-racisim, cultural humility/social justice lens.
I have a tremendous passion for serving all backgrounds, especially communities of color, who have been impacted by mental health and grief. I use a holistic, individualized and mind/body/spirit approach to grief, while connecting with others. I am committed to offering a safe, non-judgemental space full of empathy as the complexities of grief is ready to be explored, all while working with others at their own pace.
I am passionate and feel humbled in serving others throughout their healing journey.. I support all my clients in “unpacking” their feelings and challenges to gain a better understanding of where they are. I believe everyone is the expert of their own lives. My style is to empower all my clients utilizing their strengths, while providing them specific tools to get them on the path needed. Sessions look different for all, as I tailor everything to meet the specific needs of my clients.
Throughout my professional social work experience, I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, high schools, child welfare, forensic social work, where I provided therapy to youth incarcerated and their families and collaborated extensively with juvenile justice courts.
I have experience facilitating different types of groups that address anger management, conflict and accountability, social skills, intergenerational trauma and domestic violence, amongst adults (both men and women) and youth.
